A two-day wood carving course with Wooden Tom in Aviemore.

What is wood carving?
Carving means cutting a shape into a block by hand, with gouges and a mallet. It is slower than turning and there is no machine doing any of the work. Beginners usually start with a relief carving, where the design is cut into a flat panel rather than in the round, because it teaches tool control without needing you to think about a shape from every angle at once.
Dates, prices and places are set by Wooden Tom, not by us, and can change at any time. Always confirm the details with them before you travel.
When does it run?

Questions people ask before booking
Do I need to bring my own tools?
Wooden Tom does not state on their page whether tools are provided for this course. Ask them before you book, because a hand carving course can assume you bring your own.
Is £260 a fair price for this?
Most weekend wood carving courses on this site cost between £140 and £260. At £260 this one sits towards the pricier end, out of 10 we hold a price for. Price alone will not tell you which suits you: group size and what is included matter as much.
Who do I book with?
You book directly with Wooden Tom. Woodwork UK does not take bookings, does not add a fee, and is not paid for the link. They set the dates, the price and the number of places.
